Most of the stained, leaded, and zinc glass panels in need of restoration throughout Portland were built between the 1880s and the 1950s. Panels that serve as a barrier to the elements should be surveyed for restoration needs after 30-40 years.

Some of these panels throughout the city have had some restoration during their lifespan, but many have not. These panels are at various levels of disarray from broken pieces of glass, to deteriorating putty between the glass and metal, to broken solder joints, to structural failure.

Whether the damage is minor or major and your building is a historic landmark or a modest craftsman home, we walk you through all of the options for repair, restoration, or conservation to increase the health and beauty of your panel. If your panel's health has deteriorated past the point of no return, replication is always possible.
